Both these individuals had difficulty with fine motor movements and showed symptoms of progressive memory loss, mental confusion, difficulty with familiar tasks, and behavioural changes such as withdrawal and mood swings.

Through continouous practice of art therapy, they notably improved in all areas, exhibiting strengthened memory and motor functions and becoming more joyous and engaged in the sessions. I utilized a variety of techniques to target use of the non-dominant hand to stimulate brain function, and stimulated memory through repetitive actions. Different materials were used to maintain a sense of novelty to stimulate perception and vigilance. I also encouraged them to draw from their vast life experience to complete their works of art which further stimulated their focus and recall abilities.

Due to special needs, this individual had always been limited to only a small range of activities and struggled to find an avenue to express himself without restriction. Art therapy allowed him to achieve a sense of focus and freedom, showcasing his creativity and intelligence and empowering him to achieve a sense of autonomy.

This individual struggled with low morality and disinterest in her day to day activities. Through continuously practicing art therapy and meaningfully engaging her creativity and physical motion, she managed to improve her outlook by developing a renewed sense of hope and enthusiasm for her daily life, giving her a variety of novel activities to engage with and look forward to.

This individual is a renowned veteran artist, whose diagnosis resulted in struggles with memory function, loss in motor function and apathy that resulted in disinterest in himself and his surroundings.

Throughout the art therapy sessions, I utilized materials connected to his life and work in order to stimulate his engagement in the activity and his memory recall, whilst also targeting actions to stimulate physical movement. As a result he markedly improved in all areas, developing the ability to consistently recall his memory better and engage in all aspects of his life.
